Description

Heazlewoodite is a quite rare Ni sulfide. This specimen hosts some light bronze metallic aggregates of heazlewoodite in amorphous dark green serpentine matrix.

It was named in 1897 after the Heazlewood district, Tasmania, the type locality. The name was possibly suggested by James Dwight Dana who analyzed the material.

Comes with label of Southwest Scientific Co., Sedona, AZ, USA, dated to the end of the 1960's.
