Here is a little spotlight on this rare pink manganese beryllium phosphate mineral.
First discovered at Viitaniemi Pegmatite in Finland and still hard to spell, this brightly coloured mineral produces fine crystallised specimens from Pakistan, (and Afghanistan).
These specimens are very rare and highly prized by phosphate and pegmatite collectors alike. I had the opportunity today to photograph 2 recently mined and great specimens, so thought it would be good to share with you here.
Specimen 1 - Väyrynenite cluster 3.5cm across, largest crystal 15mm. From Shengus, Pakistan
Specimen 2 - Väyrynenite with quartz & hydroxylherderite, specimen 9cm across, largest crytal 10mm. From Nyet Bruk, Pakistan
