Kummerite

About

Named for Rudolf Kummer (1924-1982), mining director of the Cornelia mine at Hagendorf Süd from 1964 until his death in 1982.

Rudi had a great appreciation of, and familiarity with the mineral occurrences at the mine and he was very supportive of geologists, mineralogists and collectors who came to study and collect samples from the mine.

Occurs as a secondary mineral in pegmatite formed by the reaction of laueite with aluminium bearing hydrothermal fluids.

Associated with zieselite, zinc and aluminium bearing beraunite, and aluminium bearing frondelite, jahnsite-(CaMnMn).
