Kaiyuhite was thought to be a new mineral in the early 1980s, put forward by the late mining geologist Tony Dunn.
The research into kaiyuhite as a new mineral species was abandoned, as kaiyuhite was likely to be a mineral similar to baumhauerite.
No data or description were ever published.
Appearing as bright silvery grey sections embedded in galena, with poor cleavage.
