Description

This is for sure one of the most rare specimens I offer this week in the auction, from Caldbeck Fells, a super classic European district. It is a sky-blue coloured botryoidal hemimophite with good lustre and translucence. It displays perfectly on 4 faces where the globular aspect is well exposed. Some tiny transparent tabular crystals at present at a small area, that looks like leadhillite, on a thin layer of blueish-green chrysocolla. Classified as “Calamine, Cumberland”, I’m told that this is XIX century specimen, very hard to get nowadays.

This was acquired in 1967 by Gabriel Fauvart. Ex Gabriel Fauvart collection.
