Description

Miniature of lustrus datolite from this nowadays defunct Italian locality.
Datolite populates a geode within a dark red, consolidated brecciated ophiolite. In the specific case, the quality of the crystals is very good, with great lustre, creating a drusy of mostly white crystals with some transparent areas.

The specimen is a personal find carried out in 2003, during some road works, and the specimen has been sitting in my collection since then. Impossible to find nowadays if not in old collections.
