Description

4 minerals from Buranga, collected in the middle 1960’s by Professor Albert Delvaux (1919-1998). Later in the stock of Jacques Deblandre, they come with the corresponding labels.

These are:

Beryl, 170g 64x58x39 mm: Thick hexagonal crystal of beryl of greyish-blue colour and with no terminal faces.

Elbaite, 77g 71x41x26 mm: Subparallel elbaite crystal cluster of green colour, with one crystal clearly dominant, associated to white quartz. It is slightly curved and has numerus thin fractures filled by quartz. Old, rare and uncommon tourmaline from Buranga.

Staurolite, 47g 46x36x23 mm: A couple of staurolite crystals twinned as a Saint Andreas cross. Some rounded red crystals of almandine are associated at the surface.

Talc, 80g 98x37x19 mm: Aggregate of laminar talc, known as soapstone from near Buranga, in Ngororero.
