Description

Exceptional specimen of probertite from the Kohnstein Quarry, Niedersachswerfen. Probertite is one of the rarest borates worldwide. This piece has a water-clear, broadsword-like, huge probertite crystal of 7.7 cm length with a beautiful termination on anhydrite matrix and is even accompanied by an orange-brown sphalerite crystal. On the backside are more crystals of probertite, one even terminated, standing out of the massive anhydrite.
Large crystals of probertite are known from the anhydrite quarry of Niedersachswerfen but almost never have terminations and are almost always loose crystals without matrix.

Ex Collection Dr. Siemroth, scientist from Halle, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany who examined and analyzed all minerals from the Kohnstein Quarry.
