Description

A super classic and rarely available specimen of andesine from Saint-Raphaël (Var), likely from the Boulouris area. These specimens are well known since the end of the XIX Century, i.e. Des Cloizeaux (1884)* describes:

”The analysis of crystals from the porphyries of Fréjus (dens. 2.68) and Saint-Raphaël, department of Yar (dens. 2.678), provided MM. Rammelsberg and Sipocz results which lead to the ratios 1:3:7.5 and 1:3:7.4 identical with those of clear andesine from Rochesauve in Ardèche”.

Acquired in 1978 to Krantz (with original label) by Wilfred Moorer (1945-2015), #2685.
