Description

Big specimen of 0.5 Kg and 18 cm featuring dozens of silver lustrous native mercury drops in a matrix that is very rich in gemmy red crystals of cinnabar of superb resinous lustre, with grey quartz and golden pyrite. It is from the Almadén district, “The” super classic locality for this species, already exploited by the Romans 2000 years ago.

Acquired in 05/1982 by Gilbert Smedts. Ex Paul van Hee specimen.
