Description

This is a cut and polished slab specimen of komatite from the Kumatii formation which is a 3.475 million year old Paleoacrchean rock formation. It is the type locality for komatite.  The outer edge is natural.  Komatite is a high temperature, magnesium rich volcanic rock occuring in the Barberton Greenstone Belt.  Rare material.
