Marki Khel Mines

Content image: Marki Khel Mines

Peshawar based Imran Bangash of Spin Ghar Minerals has just returned from an exciting trip to the mining locality at Marki Khel in Khogyani, Afghanistan.

The locality is well reknowned for its wonderful specimens of andradite, epidote, diopside, and magnetite etc, all with super sharp bright and lustrous crystals.

Marki Khel is very remote and in high elevation just over the border into Afghanistan from Pakistan. To get there involves a climb up and over 15,620 ft in the Spin Ghar ranges and crossing some difficult political terrain.

The trip was worth it and Imran has kindly sent us these photos to give us a feel for the place, and he reports he has acquired some rights to the mining at the site.

Thanks to Imran, and good luck with your venture, we look forward to seeing some of your finds here on e-Rocks.
